Pakistan’s fast-rising boxing sensation Usman Wazeer is ready to make history once again as he prepares to defend his WBC OPBF Silver title next month — this time in his home country. The 24-year-old boxer’s return to the Pakistani ring marks a major milestone for the sport’s growing popularity in the nation.

Earlier this year, Wazeer captured the WBC OPBF Silver belt in Thailand after a stunning victory over Indonesia’s top-ranked fighter Stevie Ferdinandus. The 10-round match showcased Wazeer’s unmatched stamina and strategy. Despite Ferdinandus’ vast experience of over 50 fights, Wazeer dominated from the fourth round onward, finishing the bout with a powerful knockout at 2 minutes and 22 seconds in the tenth round.

Speaking to media, Wazeer shared his excitement about performing in front of his home crowd:

“I’m confident about defending my title. I want to make history on Pakistani soil and raise the national flag with pride.”

The bout, which was broadcast live on DAZN and viewed in 168 countries, boosted Wazeer’s international reputation. Now, with an unbeaten record of 17-0, he aims to extend his streak to 18-0.

Wazeer also acknowledged the continuous support from ACTIVIT, a sports and health initiative led by Dr. Rizwan Aftab Ahmed.

“ACTIVIT sponsored my last four international fights, which I won. Their financial and medical support for me and my family has been incredible,” Wazeer noted.

Born in Astore, Gilgit-Baltistan, Wazeer’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Initially a football player, he transitioned to boxing in 2015. Within two years, he claimed gold at the HEC All-Pakistan Championship (2017) and soon caught the attention of British-Pakistani boxing legend Amir Khan, who invited him to train at his academy in Islamabad.

Since turning professional in 2019, Wazeer has collected multiple regional titles — including the WBC Middle East, WBO World Youth, and WBA Asia Welterweight championships — defeating opponents from India, Indonesia, Thailand, Tanzania, and Malaysia.

“This fight isn’t just about me. It’s about representing Pakistan and showing the world our strength,” said Wazeer. “With my team’s support, I’m ready to make history again for Gilgit-Baltistan and for all of Pakistan.”
