In a thrilling German Cup encounter, Harry Kane showcased his resilience, scoring a dramatic stoppage-time winner to seal Bayern Munich’s victory over Wehen Wiesbaden, despite missing his first competitive penalty for the club.
The England captain opened the scoring from the spot in the 16th minute, extending his remarkable run to 31 consecutive successful penalties since the 2022 World Cup. However, his flawless record came to an end in the 76th minute when Wiesbaden’s goalkeeper, Florian Stritzel, saved Kane’s second penalty attempt. Stritzel further frustrated Kane by denying him twice more in quick succession.
At that point, the game was level at 2-2, with Michael Olise adding to Kane’s early strike before Fatih Kaya netted twice in six minutes for the underdogs. But Kane proved his class, scoring a stoppage-time winner to keep Bayern’s title defense alive.
The draw for the DFB-Pokal second round will take place on Sunday. For more updates, check BBC Sport and Sky Sports.
This dramatic performance highlights Kane’s value to Bayern Munich as they push for domestic and European glory this season.
