China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets COAS Asim Munir in Islamabad to Strengthen Pakistan-China Partnership

Islamabad, Pakistan – China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi held an important meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during his official visit to Islamabad. The discussion primarily focused on regional security, counter-terrorism, and mutual cooperation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Wang Yi arrived in Pakistan late Wednesday night to participate in the sixth Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue. He also met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, reaffirming China’s commitment to work with Pakistan for regional peace, stability, and sustainable development.

During the high-level meeting, Wang Yi emphasized the need to improve security dialogue mechanisms, strengthen law enforcement cooperation, and intensify the fight against transnational terrorism and extremism. Both sides agreed to deepen defense collaboration, enhance joint training, and continue military technology cooperation.

According to ISPR, “Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen the strategic partnership and enhance coordination at regional and international forums.”

The Chinese Foreign Minister also reiterated China’s firm support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and economic development. In return, COAS Asim Munir thanked China for its consistent and unwavering support.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advance peace, prosperity, and regional stability. Experts believe that the partnership between Islamabad and Beijing continues to be a cornerstone of resilience in South Asia.
