In a powerful counterattack following repeated border assaults, the Pakistan Army successfully captured 19 Afghan security posts along the Pak-Afghan border, signaling a major escalation in regional tensions.
According to reports from Geo News and Dawn, the military action came in response to heavy cross-border fire by Afghan militants, which resulted in casualties and damaged several Pakistani checkpoints. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that Pakistani forces retaliated with precision, neutralizing multiple targets and reclaiming control over key areas.
Following the operation, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both issued strong statements emphasizing that Pakistan will not compromise on its territorial integrity or national security. Zardari declared that the armed forces have full government support, while Shehbaz Sharif assured the nation that “any aggression against Pakistan will be met with a decisive response.”
Meanwhile, diplomatic sources quoted by Al Jazeera suggested that Islamabad is considering a formal protest to Kabul over the border violations, demanding accountability for militant incursions.
