Fresh Showers Expected Across Northern Pakistan: PMD Issues Rain Advisory

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted fresh showers and thunderstorms across the upper regions of the country starting 16 September, which could persist until 19 September. According to PMD’s advisory, a westerly wave is expected to approach the upper parts of Pakistan from the evening of 15 September, bringing widespread rainfall and possible thunderstorms.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, and Waziristan.

Meanwhile, Punjab is expected to experience rain-wind/thundershowers in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum between 16 and 19 September, with additional showers in Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, and Faisalabad from 18–19 September.

Authorities are urging residents, especially those in low-lying and flood-prone areas, to remain cautious and stay updated on weather alerts. Farmers and travelers have also been advised to plan accordingly to avoid disruptions.
