In a significant legal development, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has extended the pre-arrest interim bail of Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan, until October 12, 2025, in a high-profile case linked to alleged violence against police during the October 5, 2024 protest.
According to Dawn and Geo News, ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill presided over the hearing on Friday. Upon the expiry of their earlier bail, Aleema and Uzma failed to personally appear before the court. Their legal counsel, however, submitted an application for a one-day exemption, citing their scheduled appearance in another case in Islamabad.
The court accepted the plea and granted exemption from personal attendance while extending their interim bail. The case, filed by Shafiqabad Police, accuses PTI leadership of allegedly inciting party workers to attack police officers during the protest.
This development comes amid ongoing legal challenges for PTI leadership following multiple protests and political unrest across the country. Legal experts suggest that the decision underscores the continuing tensions between PTI leaders and law enforcement authorities, which remain under close scrutiny from both national and international observers.
